Proud to be from IA

I have to say how proud I am recently to been raised in Iowa. Even though now I live in a more conservative state I can be happy that Iowa still holds values. In recently passing the rights of gay marriage they are unfolding precedents to be followed. It is a right as a human being to marry the person you love regardless of sex.

The founders of this country made it a right of people to do as they wished, with the exception of hurting others. This is a great moment and I hope that people will realize that you can't choose who you love and the country is not founded on the bible, a book that not everyone reads. It was founded on religious freedoms and rights for all.

Our country WAS founded on biblical principles. That is why you can find them on a lot of our government buildings and on our money, etc. The Ten Commandments are on our buildings and "In God we Trust" is on our money. There are also verses found on other memorials, etc. Our founding fathers wanted freedom of religion not freedom from religion. And when Thomas Jefferson wrote "separation of church and state" he never meant "separation of God and state". They wanted to keep us from having a state church established that you had to be a member of. They wanted you to be able to choose where you worship God but they wanted a respect and fear of the things of God. That is no longer the case in our country.
