Ahhh Christmas Trees

In my latest efforts to be kind to dear mother earth I have found some disappointing news. When buying a Christmas tree opt for the real one, it is much friendlier to the earth because it is able to be recycled into mulch. This of course means you have to bring it to the tree site to be recycled and not thrown in a dumpster or chucked down a country road. Artificial trees are not eco at all because they are made of many unrecyclable materials, and will just end up in the local landfill. You can only imagine how this news frustrated me because last year we spent the $200 or so and bought a nice pre-lit tree that would last for many years. Although my ever pleasing husband reminded me that we had to get a fake tree because our beloved dog, Maggie had thought the real tree was the forest and decided to potty near it. Christmas 06' was a tricky year, and with the new carpet I am thankful for my artificial tree and will just have to find other ways to counteract my unearthfriendly decision.

I never thought about that before, but in all fairness, the artificial tree that I inherited is just as old as me and still looks brand new, so I won't be poluting with it any time soon!

recycling is also pretty tricky and can often be done in ways that statistics can't track because it is done by creative people.
When your tree is no longer a beautiful TREE, there is probably nothing stopping it from being redesigned into a wreath or something.
