Can you believe it? I finally got to make sure my voice was heard. In a red state I am a blue voter and firmly believing in doing good for the majority I have cast a ballot for the Democratic party. Do you really think Obama is a socialist? Well if he is then McCain is also since they both support the same welfare programs. Programs that help the poor in our country get back on their feet in times of economic hardship. Contrary to belief of some fellow Midwesterners not all people on welfare are so called "scrounges", most have fell into hardship. I am appalled to think that some people really believe that others love playing the system. When the hard reality is that some have to make a choice to feed their family or pay the electric bill. They have to decide to put gas in the car so that they can get to their job or if they will buy a gallon of milk and a cheap box of cereal to feed their family.
Damn those food stamp programs who let people buy groceries that will give them a decent meal while we have to make cheaper meals. Did you ever think that this is one of few good meals, at the beginning of each month that them and their family will have? That at the end of the month there is barely enough food to go around and sometimes parents sacrifice a NEED for their children. Well think about it and the next time you go to Outback, Red Lobster, or another fancy restaurant think about all the people who enjoy having to rely on our government for food.
Is health insurance a right or a privelege? We have all heard this question lately but many of us still only think of one person when voting-ourselves. When you vote tommorrow think of all the infant deaths, the elderly who skip medicine because they cannot afford it, children who miss annual checkups, and you yourself who might have had to go without insurance at sometime in your life and had hoped for the best. Our country is the "ONLY" industrialized nation without a univerasal health plan. Even Cuba has better coverage than the U.S.A., this is unbelievable and a disgrace to this so called fine nation.
By voting for Obama you will have the right to help all people, his presidency will stop deaths of our soldiers who die every day by quiting this war of greed. It started the day our middle son was born and is still going, he is now 5 years and 7 months old. We are headed to another Vietnam reenactment, a war that no one really knows why it is still going. Oh, I remembered, it was started to hunt down the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, did you know that 3 times they were within a few miles of him and were told to back down. Watch frontline on PBS sometime, you might think twice about keeping this war going. I am sorry that you might think that this then means we have "lost", but is it losing when you save not only your country's soldiers but other human beings? Some of the Christians in this state need to re-evaluate what it means to be christian.
The final objective on my mind today was the enviroment and all that it entails, If this is god's land shouldn't we take care of it and not fill it with our byproducts of waste and filth? Drive a little less, eat less meat, remember the 3 R's for goddness sakes! Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! Change your life to make it a better planet for all of us. Nebraska is ranked 6th for wind energy, so let's embrace this gift of clean energy and create some jobs while we do so.
Think of the greater good for your country not just youself when you go to the polls tomorrow and Obama will be our next president!
